Bx3 is having a CD release party. That rhymes. It's tonight.

Tonight, 6th December
Middle East upstairs, Cambridge, MA
18+
$10
9 pm doors
Also starring the other bands mentioned above.

It would be remiss of me not to mention my friend's show, so there you go. I'm just impressed with the cartoon!Brendan.

I may or may not be in attendance, according to my mood and willingness to drive a lot tomorrow. I'm also a little wary of cartoon!Brendan's advice to buy his record as the last time I bought a CD from him, I left the damn thing on the merch table and ran out of the Middle East without it. Such is my life.

Tonight in NYC and Boston, in case you haven't got plans.

Hello, my lovelies in both cities. Bored tonight? Here's what you should check out:

Higgins just dropped their second record, Zs, on Tuesday and they're playing their second of two CD release parties tonight (the first was yesterday at Maxwell's; details for tonight are below. (Ignore the fact that the above poster is actually for a couple of shows they did in August. Sorry.)

Higgins @ SoundFix Records
Williamsburg, Brooklyn
8 pm
w/ Benji Cossa

You can listen to "Write It Down" from Zs over here.

As for you other kids...

There's this Tom Petty tribute show going on at the Middle East up tonight. Nobody's really sure why there's a Tom Petty tribute show going on. I think they all just really like Tom Petty. Anyway, a bunch of really good Boston bands are playing, so you'll probably want to go. Deets are on the poster, except for the fact that the music starts at 9:15.

Um. 'Tis all for now.

My friends are going on tour.

This is a little comic thing I made about my friends. It's too big to post here.

So the boys of the BBB are going on this little mini-tour thinger, starting tonight, so if you're in any of the following cities I wholly encourage you to go throw produce at them buy them shots of Jameson's.

7th August - Monty's Krown - Rochester, NY
w/ The Bailey Quarters
8th August - Roc Bar - Cleveland, OH
w/ Bay State, Stonerelied, Royal Sub Sky, & Evanchuck/Lee
9th August - Ronny's Bar - Chicago, IL
w/ Mas Trueno, Vamplifier, and John Greenfield & the Tasteful Nudes (there's a band name for you.)
10th August - Uncommon Ground - Chicago, IL
w/ Gordon Wright

They're really nice guys, I swear.

Haven't got a date for Thursday night?

That's okay. Let indie rock be your Valentine instead:

Obviously, I think you should go heckle support the boys of the BBB (abuse of alliteration!) on Wednesday night. Sources say that a certain Joe Welsh is playing, too, which I'm told is sort of a big deal. Sources also say that Okay Thursday is pretty awesome as well. I've already expounded my thoughts on the aptly-named Toothaches. (TWEEEE!)

As for me, my Valentines will be these lovely, saucy ladies. SPICE UP YOUR LIFE YEAH!

18 January 2008

Two weeks (and a day, shush) and counting:

Have you purchased your tickets yet? Okay, but don't cry to me if you can't get in the door....

The Brendan Boogie Band played Hennessy's last night. There's a video of them performing up here. You tell me how good it is, because I haven't watched the whole thing yet.

(PS: I'm heading back up to school in a few days, so I'm frantically packing up right now. I can't guarantee any posts, or at least any new and interesting posts about bands other than the five I regularly post about anyway, over the next few days. Just so ya' know.)

Let's talk about how much I love that shot, except that I just want to run up and give EMO!Nate a big hug. And I'm not sure how I feel about leopard-print ties.

Tickets for the Local Rock Heroes' last show are on sale now (which reminds me that I should go buy mine now that I have more than $2 in my bank account).

Brendan Boogie Band's (Scamper minus Keith) first show is going down tomorrow at the Bulfinch Yacht Club in Boston. If you can't see them there, catch them at Hennesy's at Faneuil Hall in January.

ETA: Okay, I still don't know how I feel about leaopard-print ties, however, I do know how I feel about paisley ties. So, um. Pretend I didn't say what I said. Or something.
