The Irish singer and entertainer Joe Dolan has died at the Mater private hospital in Dublin.
The 64-year-old took ill at his home in Foxrock on Christmas night and died just after 3pm on Boxing Day from a suspected brain haemorrhage.
A former showband singer, Mr Dolan enjoyed musical success for over 40 years in Ireland and around the world.
I won't pretend that I was familiar with Joe Dolan's music, but I was completely obsessed with the Breakfast on Pluto soundtrack, which features his song "Good Looking Woman," about two years ago. In fact, it was in perusing YouTube videos of Dolan performing "Good Looking Woman" that I found out that he'd passed away just recently.
On Boxing Day, too. How sad.
